Machine learning methods are being increasingly combined with operations research methods in order to improve the overall performance of solution methods. Yet, machine learning methods can also be used to help to solve new types of problems that are more representative of real-life problems. This seminar is in line with this latter objective. In particular, several (past and ongoing) projects using reinforcement learning to solve new problems in ride-hailing, vehicle routing and inventory management will be exposed.
